Jackson Signs For Nick Fury Role

Jackson Signs For Nick Fury Role

February 26, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Fans can breath a sigh of relief today.  Actor Samuel L. Jackson will be Nick Fury for the foreseable future.

The actor signed a deal yesterday that will cast him in the role of Nick Fury for nine upcoming Marvel Studios motion pictures.  Included in the deal are appearances in “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America,” “The Avengers” and its sequels.  The deal also includes an option for a Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. movie.

Jackson and Fury were expected to be part of the sequel, but as Marvel negotiated with its cast, deals proved hard to come by. Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle. Mickey Rourke still doesn’t have a deal for the part of a villain despite almost two months of negotiations.

Great choice. I was looking forward to seeing him ever since the end of the Iron Man credits. I would have liked to see Terrance Howard but I think that Don Cheadle will do a fine job.
