Starting at 8 p.m. tonight, the CW offers two highly-anticipated episodes of their series “Smallville” and “Supernatural.” Details on these first new episodes of 2009 are below along with some exclusive clips.
SMALLVILLE — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) — Episode: “Legion”
DC COMICS’ LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES ARRIVE IN SMALLVILLE FROM THE FUTURE TO HELP CLARK STOP BRAINIAC AND THE PERSUADER — The aftermath of Doomsday’s (Sam Witwer) attack on Chloe (Allison Mack) and Jimmy’s (Aaron Ashmore) wedding leaves Clark (Tom Welling) in shock, but before he can search for the kidnapped Chloe, The Persuader (guest star Fraser Aithceson) appears and attacks him. Rokk (guest star Ryan Kennedy), Imra (guest star Alexz Johnson) and Garth (guest star Calum Worthy), also known as The Legion, step in from the future to help vanquish the Persuader and the group realizes Brainiac has taken over Chloe once again. Meanwhile, up at the Fortress, Chloe, as Brainiac, informs Davis he is Doomsday and was created to kill “the other Kryptonian” and destroy the world.

SUPERNATURAL — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) — Episode: “Criss Angel is a Douche Bag”
TV VETERANS BARRY BOSTWICK, JOHN RUBENSTEIN AND RICHARD LIBERTINI GUETS STAR A mysterious death draws Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) to a town full of old-school magicians. Their investigation leads them to Charlie (guest star John Rubenstein), Jay (guest star Barry Bostwick) and Vernon (guest star Richard Libertini), three friends who were famous magicians in their day but have now been replaced by flashier, younger magicians. One of them has made a deal to acquire real magical powers, but the price was extremely high. Sam and Dean must figure out a way to reverse the spell before others are harmed. Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Julie Siege.
