This may be just rumor, because I can’t believe NBC is about to cancel their best new show this season, and one of the most intriguing shows on the air.
From Zap2It Blogs:
We’re hearing that the next two weeks are crucial for NBC’s Journeyman. While nothing official has been decided, the rumor is that if the Nielsen numbers don’t rise for the Nov. 19 and 26 episodes, the network will yank the show, without airing all the episodes produced.
The network is only interested in the live Nielsens, not DVR viewers or downloads, says a show staffer. This is a problem for the show, because the majority of emails the show gets is from fans who watch online. Since ads touting the ability to watch Journeyman for free online are common, that’s hardly surprising.
Looks like it’s time to write more letters.

RICE A RONI FOR JOURNEYMAN! Here's the deal...I recently read, that if fans want to bring Journeyman back, to send Rice A Roni to the NBC office, just like they sent peanuts to the CBS office for Jericho. As I watched the last episode last night, I was saddened, because this was a great show! We don't have time to watch real time TV and always DVR'd it... I think if there was some way to track that, they would see what a great response it was getting. Obviously we all liked it.... Anyone else agree to send Rice A Roni???
I can NOT believe that NBC is cancelling Journeyman... what are they thinking What is wrong with that network.. no wonder cable is eating their lunch... remember that other show they tried to cancel let's see i think it was STAR TREK
"When Star Trek debuted on NBC in 1966, it was not an immediate hit; ratings were low and advertising revenue was lackluster. Even prior to the end of the first season of Star Trek, there were already calls in the network for the cancellation of the series due to its low Nielsen ratings.[2] During the show's second season, the threat of cancellation loomed.[3] The show's devoted fanbase conducted an unprecedented letter-writing campaign, petitioning NBC to keep the show on the air.[4] Its fans succeeded in gaining a third season; however, NBC subsequently moved the show to the Friday Night Death Slot at 10 PM.[5] Gene Roddenberry resigned as line producer of Star Trek before the start of the final season to protest the changed timeslot, and was replaced by Fred Freiberger. NBC then substantially reduced Star Trek's budget which brought about a marked decline in the quality of many season three episodes.[6] Nichelle Nichols observes that as a result of NBC's actions, "you saw fewer outdoor location shots, for example [in season 3]. Top writers, top guest stars, top anything you needed was harder to come by. Thus, Star Trek's demise became a self-fulfilling prophecy. And I can assure you, that is exactly as it was meant to be."[7]
This is ridiculous! i love this show! I think I'll switch networks also!!!!
This is the one show that isn't filled with filth and I can watch with my family!
smart shows don't last. Ever since Max Headroom was cancelled, it is clear that the mass of TV is aimed slightly below the masses. We too bemoan the loss of a fun show.
The networks are going to lose big. No new stuff, and the whole world has cable/satellite, DVD players, so we'll all work around. We learn to watch TV on our schedule (this one's a huge deal for we old folks...you young'uns have always been able to time shift) even more.
Now, if the HD dvd vs. Bluray nonsense would solve itself there's be one great opportunity for all of us with HD sets and no programming to watch HD, but as the DVD cartel can't agree on anything, no HD
Of course Journeyman got cancelled. You need more space for the Battle of the Nanny Network Stars Survivor Who Wants to Be a Star marathon. I HATE REALITY TV (except COPS)
I love this show. I look forward to it every week. If they cancel it I will be disappointed.
I normally DVR all my shows, but this was the only show I actually ran home to watch. I can't believe they are cancelling it. Major bummer.
I just watched the Perfidia episode with my wife and we're so hooked on the writing, plots and characters. NBC can't cancel a show like this. It was far better than "Heroes" this fall and "Chuck" isn't even in the same league. If "Chuck" is getting better Nielsen ratings than Journeyman than our culture is doomed.
You know what the problem with Journeyman is? It's decent. It's family-friendly, it focuses on helping people and it doesn't feel the need to utilize every curse word allowed on prime time tv. And so, like so often occurs, the networks don't care that the average person actually likes it.
Ithink one of the reasons Bionic Woman did not get cancelled and Journeyman did is BW is produced by NBC/Universal & Journeyman is produced by FOX. Perhaps fans of Journeyman should write letters to Fox & have Fox put Journeyman on.
It's the ONLY good show NBC has so I hope it sticks around.
Journeyman is the one show my entire family watches together. It's a smart show that makes you think, that's the problem! Americans can't think anymore! If it's not Tila Tequila or Fat drunk Celebrities or Kim Kardashian America can't handle it. Have a show that's not college girls making out and it's too cerebral for the viewing public. NBC, your news programs are in the tank and now your canceling the good shows. You guys are total and complete morons. It's just pathetic that when a really good show comes along, it gets canceled while the crap continues to flow from the idiot box. If I sound pissed, I am !
We love this show. It is extremely interesting. I am about to give up on all network tv. They seem to cancel shows do to numbers that do not actual accurately represent the shows viewership. If the lack of adaptation to the way viewers watch tv ie. DVR and Online then the majors are going to lose out in the end the cusumer will find other sources for there enertainment.
Bring back Journeyman.
That's just great, un-f***ing-believable. Chalk another of my favorite shows up to premature cancellation.
I love the Sci-Fi genre, and this show had damn good appeal to the folks that aren't normally into Sci-Fi.
I was afraid to watch Heroes b/c I thought the studio execs would probably cancel it. I finally gave in and watched the first season after it came out on DVD and was set for a second season.
So now my ever expanding list of favorite cancelled shows now consists of:
Farscape
Enterprise
Dead Like Me
Crossing Jordan (what can I say, I like Jill Hennessey)
Battlestar Galactica (trimmed down to the 4th season)
Journeyman
Except for Dead Like Me, each one is an NBC (or affiliate) -produced show.
NBC completely sucks ass. Ditch Bionic Woman before you dump this show. That show started out great, and has since gone down the tubes since, I don't even bother DVRing it anymore.
On the subject of DVRs. It's a fact NBC, when people have a choice of watching a show when they want w/o commercials vs. when you want... well, you're gonna lose out...
WELCOME TO THE 21st CENTURY, with such modern conveniences as DVR, DVD, TiVo and iTunes.
NBC needs an executive management enema.
This show was the best show in years. Monday finally was a night I had reason to turn on the TV.
The possible plots for future shows could have been endless. The acting was incredible that there were many times we would forget this was even a SciFi series. There is so much garbage on TV that should have been pulled before this show. Also unlike every on during the evenings, I actually felt comfortable having my children watch this one.
I seriously hope that Journeyman could follow up in a movie or another network like SciFi or USA. I won't hold my breath though.
Journeyman makes my night! Its a very well acted and written show, it would be a shame to cancel it. I hope that if Journeyman is canceled then I will be following this show were ever it may go!!! And if it gets canceled I refuses to watch any New shows for NBC.
I just watched the last Jouneyman show (on my DVR) and it was painful to think it's the end. The gradual increase in the quality of the plot, depth of character, top talent actors and respect for the intelligence of the audience was glaring. Unfortunately
the networks (especially the NBC suits) have chosen with there latest decision to reach again for the lowest common denominator of viewers in the American audience by cancelling a gem. How do you ever think you'll compete with cable drama. I hope HBO or Showtime can pick it up. I truly will miss the quality bye bye NBC keep it for the low lifes and your money.
Laura has a good idea, boycott any new NBC shows, just in case you're hooked on 30 Rock. But don't give any other's a chance. Hopefully networks will get the message and start to respect intelligence and quality.

SAVE JOURNEYMAN! SAVE JOURNEYMAN!
My wife and I found the show far and away above average with strong potential for growth. In fact, the last three episodes were quite good and had us looking foward 'in time to future' shows. Killing this show after just too few episodes is more irrational than the show's flawed but likable premise. Sometimes intelligent television, like genius must be cultivated, nurtured, and even pampered. Neither Albert Einstein nor Richard Feynman could speak a word until each was almost three years old. Shame on NBC for cancelling a show with so much while TV viewers thirt for more innovative drama.

This is ridiculous! Good point someone made in a post above - you mean Bionic Woman is staying and Journeyman is poised to get the axe? Dumb, Dumb, Dumb. So many dumb, teenager targeted shows out there - it was refreshing to have an intelligent, expertly crafted series - considering banning NBC for this absurd move. I guess that is the result of using stone-age media measurement in the world of online viewing, DVR and etc. Catch up NBC. Kudos to the whole cast, crew, writers etc for such a great series.
Agree with the above poster. Canceling this series stinks. Remember Fox axing Family Guy? Did NBC not learn from that lesson?
I absolutely love this show...Heroes and Journeyman are the only good shows worth watching..
Please bring back JOurneyman.
Journeyman was one of the best shows on the air. All the moronic shows like "Cashmere Mafia" will get a following and yet this wonderful show doesn't make it! What does it say about the intelligence of TV viewers?

Save the show! Journeyman is the best show on and nbc needs to keep it. enough said.
Wow...you all are right. NBC, who or what is telling you that people are not into this show? It is one of those shows we all love cause we are not plaster with all the pulicity that some shows overdo...At 10 your looking at the working class people waiting for the news then off to bed. I have many friends and people in this boat who love Journeyman, it makes me never want to watch a new show again. Journeyman is way better a show the CHUCK, and I am a Chuck fan... If they were to move Heros to 10 i would stop watching it. I am sick of this lossing a great tv show when there are 6 that suck on the same network..
NBC has done a number of stupid things in the last few years. But by far, getting rid of Journeyman is one of the worst decisions that has been made yet.
Last year it was The Black Donneley's (might be spelled wrong), Passions was cancelled and replaced with some joke of a show called Crosswords, and now this!!!
Let's talk about the Neilsen Ratings. Most people that have the time to sit around and report on what it is they are watching, are most likely older people that have nothing better to do. I can see why most older people may not have been fan's of the show.
But to NBC: Your fan base is the average american that most likely doesn't have time to sit around and worry about being a Neilsen Family. Sorry if this is news to you. But you have hundreds of thousands of people that enjoy Journeyman. It should stay on the air!
what is up with t.v. You find a show you can sit down and enjoy, then they pull it. This sucks. There are so many stupid shows on, but they want to take off a show like Journeyman. I for one am sick of game shows, reality shows, and shows where the people are just stupid. why are they trying to dumb us down? Keep Journeyman on!!!! I really hope this works. It did for Jercio.
Sad Fact: The majority of television viewers watch WWE, Nascar, and Reality TV. Mob rules. Outvoted by ad revenue.
I don't understand how they can keep these ridiculous shows on but take away these great shows like Heroes and JOURNEYMAN!!! My husband and I look forward to them every week and now their taking them away.. I'm VERY upset!! BRING JOURNEYMAN BACK!!!!
There aren't many shows worth watching on TV these days, but Journeyman is definately one. I hope NBC reconsiders bringing it back. Great acting and an interesting storyline make it worth tuning into each week. So many folks watch online and digitally record, I'm sure the ratings they go by would probably triple if they took those into consideration. It would be one of the many great shows that have fallen by the wayside. Pretty soon, I may just end up giving away my TV...
I agree. Journeyman became one of my favorite new shows to watch. I haven't seen it in a while and just figured the writers strike slowed down the progress of everything. I'm sad to see that it is cancelled.
i think that its stupid to stop showing the best show on nbc the others stink
