NBC Universal Television Studio has signed the last of its principal cast members of the hit daytime drama “Passions” to new contracts, ensuring that they will continue with the soap when it makes the move from NBC to The 101 on DIRECTV on September 17, 2007. The show’s last NBC network airing will be on September 7.

Those continuing with the series include: Eric Martsolf (Ethan), Ben Masters (Julian), Kim Johnston Ulrich (Ivy), Dylan Fergus (Noah), Galen Gering (Luis), Emily Harper (Fancy), Lindsay Hartley (Theresa), Liza Huber (Gwen), James Hyde (Sam), Juliet Mills (Tabitha), Heidi Mueller (Kay), Tracey Ross (Eve), Eva Tamargo (Pilar), McKenzie Westmore (“Sheridan”) and Erin Cardillo (Esme).

“We are thrilled that the principal cast members will continue on the show,” said Annamarie Kostura, VP Daytime, NBC Universal. “It is important that the fans know that the show will still be the same after the move.”

“This is great news for fans of the show who will be able to seamlessly join their favorite characters for new adventures on The 101,” said Patty Ishimoto, General Manager, DIRECTV Entertainment. “We are excited about the news and are busy getting ready to welcome ‘Passions’ to its new home on DIRECTV.

Based on the rich history, forbidden witchcraft, magic and mystery of the harbor community of Harmony, “Passions” explores the lives, loves and losses of four core families: the Cranes, the Lopez-Fitzgeralds, the Bennetts and the Russells, each of whom have their own distinct and diverse challenges and desires.

I love Passions on TV, the soap opera. I am switching to DirectTV from Dish Network to be able to continue to watch it. Please bring it out on DVD from the beginning episode so I can buy it someday. Thanks!

This really stinks. what is wrong with NBC? We don’t have direct TV. we have watched since the beginning. For a lot of loyal viewers, passions is over! We have no way to see it when it moves. What a mistake.

I have to say that this really stinks! There is no way that I will switch to Direct TV for one show. I will miss Passions but I can’t understand why some sort of deal can’t be made between the companies to allow everyone to still enjoy it.

I cannot get direct tv where I live. Cable only. Nor see makes sence going to where lose near 70% of present audience. How many on fixed income want to put $200 on credit card or debit card so can watch passions on direct tv. Maybe if on Soap network lot more could contine to watch it. And no way watch 4 hrs. of today show. Just change channels. Watch something else in Sept. Will miss the show though. Any chance synopsis be on line as before or4 in Soap opera digest? For those who cannot get or switch to direct tv? Edna

I am too disappointed, as I too will no longer be able to view. This was the only soap that I have ever liked, partly because it is so outlandish that you are not insulted. It’s not supposed to seem real. Oh well maybe another network will catch on & do something similar. It was a good run I suppose.

My cable is awesome everyone I every met that had satellite had problems, weather, can’t get the right position, can’t get the channels they want and so on.

I have had it before and I did not like it as well as Dish so I have Dish now and I would never change…. even though I will miss passion dearly I can do without it. It’s too much of a hassle to switch just to watch passions. Why would you do that? I think you will be losing a lot of viewers and you will regret it before too long.

I’m very disappointed with the switch to Direct Tv. I’ve been watching Passions since the beginning and my mother is totally hooked on it. We got the direct tv dish but it never worked right so we went back to Time Warner Cable. It will be a shame to take off Passions to put the Today show on for 4 hours a day. I never watch that. And we won’t get direct tv hooked up again. Sorry to hear it go, NBC is loosing a loyal following of fans of Passions. I see NBC loosing a lot of viewers period. TV is getting so stupid with all the reality shows and now the game shows. Guess we’ll just have to do something else besides watching that channel.

I only get 2 channels (NBC & ABC) because I can’t afford cable or DIRECT TV. My mother had Direct TV when we were younger and it sucked. If the wind blew the wrong way it went out. Now because NBC wants to be stupid I can’t even watch my favorite show. The one thing I look forward to doing during the day. Please keep Passions on Daytime NBC and FORGET the Today show. 🙁

I have been watching it since day one and I am sad that I can’t continue to watch it. I had Directv before and it was horrible!!!!!!!! Everytime the weather was bad, it would go off. I can’t tell you how many times I came home and pressed play on my tivo and got a black picture because it rained or the wind was blowing too hard. It was ridiculous. Directv is terrible and I am sticking to cable. Unless there is some way to watch Passins online, September will be the last time that I see it.

Please reconsider making Passions available only on DirectTV. Many, many viewers will not be able to watch any longer and it is a slap in our faces. To support a show for 8 years and have the rug pulled out from under us is unfair. Just another example of corporations considering only the bottom line and not the people it will affect. Shame on you NBC and DirectTV. I will do anything but watch your network or subscribe to DirectTV -not that you care, after all, I am not important – only your profits. How much was it worth to NBC to sell us out? Will it be worth it? Perhaps a compromise would help, like Soap Network and online episodes.

FYI, The 101 is a free channel on DirecTV. It’s on Channel 101, and they’ve been starting to run shows that they want to try to attract viewers for. If you have DirecTV already, then you already have The 101.

It’s currently running some random programming, including the TV Guide Network’s “America’s Next Producer”, and some other programming, including free concerts.

I believe programming on The 101 is also viewable on channel 801, but at a shifted time. And fear not, so far there seem to be plenty of reruns of shows (3-4 times per week from what I see in the listings).

I’ve been a DirecTV customer for over 10 years, and except for one or two instances, I’ve been very very happy with my service and their customer service.

And yes, Kristina’s right… NBC had already cancelled “Passions”, so this move was a saving grace from DirecTV. Sam posted the news about the Passions cancellation back in January.

I get on my eliptical and that is what keeps me going, I burn throught he commercials and I get my hour of cardio every day, now Im going to be bored and fat. NBC is trippen and if they move Days of Our Lives I’ll start a movement to burn the place down. LOL. Seriously I look forward to Passions every day, and I will seriously miss it. Even though many of the good cast memebers will not be moving on with show. Now that Paloma will not move on she will prob get killed shortly after the wedding (if that happens) also I guess Luiz doesnt die today since he will be on the show in Sept. Way to kill the plot too. Thanks NBC

Like many of you I have been watching Passions since day one, and I am really disapointed that it is moving to DirectTV.

I read awhile back that because Passions ratings were so low that NBC was cancelling it but instead DirectTV bought it. I had DirectTV many years ago and I was not happy with it for several reasons; it was always shut down during bad weather plus it cost more. So I definitely will not make the switch.

I just hope that some of the story lines will be resolved before the move, especially Ethan finding out that Little Ethan is his son.

There is a web site http://www.soapoperafan.com/passions that is done by Dustin that gives a really good synopsis of the daily episodes if you want to keep up with what is going on. He also does Days of our Lives.

I am hoping that they will play the episodes on line, because I really hate to miss seeing the different story lines being revealed.

All that is on NBC worth watching now is the two soaps, and evening news. I can watch the news, on two other networks. And go to Direct TV, to watch my other shows. Sorry local NBC, affilliates, such as WTAP TV. You will loose all kind of ratings. If I read correct and you loose Days, and after being on for 40yrs. Do you realize how your ratings, will fall? People have watched since the beginning. And I do say all ages. Passions, has also been watched faithfully since the beginning. Mad, in WV.

The smart thing would have been to leave it on NBC and offer the show to Direct T.V. also. The show will be losing a lot of loyal viewers. This is so sad to me. I have kept up with this show for years and now I will not be able to. Very unwise choice.

I’ve watch passions from since the start… I use to schedule my college classes around it.

I must admit allow a loyal fan… I grow into not needing to watch it everyday, because I knew the next week they’ll be at the same place.

Surprisingly, it took NBC this long. Passions storyline is to weak and to slow… I predicted a cancelization long ago…

But who is going to switch for one show, with the same bad storyline and slow pace…. Passions is going to lose millions of viewers… and gain a few…

But if we’re lucky it may be cancelled from Directv and come back to network television, sooner than we think and the story only advanced about a month 🙂

I have been watching Passions ever since the first show and I think that going to Direct TV is a huge mistake as alot of people here think. I believe this will be the end of Passions as we know it because alot of people won’t be able to or are not willing to switch to Direct TV. I for one, had Direct TV a few years ago and had a lot of problems with them as well as Sattelite in general. From what I know, Direct TV isn’t doing very well and is struggling to stay afloat so to speak and is hoping that by bringing hit shows to their network they will raise their customer base and do better.
I also beleive that NBC is making a big mistake by showing The Today Show for 4 hours…..they as a network are making a big mistake….you can only watch so much of the Today Show…We have too many daytime talk shows as it is.
I will miss Passions just like the rest of you…hopefully we can watch the re-runs on the internet somewhere.

It was my guilty pleasure, I watched it from the beginning, and its going to beover because I just simply will not be able to afford Direct TV or justify switching for one show. I know that the show has actually been saved by Direcg TV but I guess its just really bitter sweet. Hopefully I will be able to watch them online possibly? Come on don’t kick us when we’re down!:):(

I have watched passions since the very first episode. When my job required I move to another shift I was unable to see it anymore. About a month ago I purchased a DVR so I could record passions and watch it when I get home then this crap happens. Unable to switch because direct isn’t offered here (not that I wanted to anyway).Networks pick up on other networks shows all the time passions should have went that route instead.

I was extremely disappointed to hear the news that Passions will be moving to Direct TV. I tape it every day and watch it when I get home from work. I don’t have Direct TV or cable and cannot get it where I live. Nor do I see the need to purchase Direct TV to watch one tv show. So I guess after September 7th, it’s goodbye Passions for me.

I enjoy the show Passions very much and sorry to learn that it is moving. However, it is not worth for me to change my Dish. I will miss it greatly and hope that in the future, if you could make the characters smarty, not have them standing around talking to themselves all the time, and not drag out the story line for weeks and weeks, it would make Harmony look like there is at least one active brain cell in town. All these anal secrets that do not mount to nothing is a bit numbing. When these scenes are on, I get up and do something else. The best part of the show is with Tabatha and Endora. The special effects are great and lots of fun to watch. I am glad that Tabatha is becoming a good witch.

This show is outrageous and hilarious and I love the sci-fi stuff since it reminds of the old Dark Shadows. NBC is making a HUGE mistake. Direct TV is trying to save their company. I wish the cast all the luck in the world. I will dearly miss your show. Satellite dish network is not possible in my neighborhood due to all the trees. Comcast has me in their monopoly pocket. Passions has been my favorite soap for quite some time. I have actually considered subscribing to Direct TV but decided not to.I feel that the show will change drastically and will lose its appeal. My favorite story to follow is Teresa and Ethan. I would love to see all of Gwen’s dirt fly just one time. However, I have a feeling that the last airing is going to leave a lot of loyal viewers hanging. I am disappointed about this decision. I wonder if Direct TV will air the episodes like NBC has online. That would be great; but I have a feeling that is hopeful thinking.:(

I can see where NBC thought that maybe Passions is far fetched for viewers, but I hope messages like these will change their minds. I don’t think they realize the amount of fans they had behind this show. Like it has been said before, it is far fetched but isn’t that why viewers watch the shows. So that it is something they can focus on other than what is going on in their own lives? Just like any other soap on television today, especially the number one Days of Our Lives. I really and truly believed that this was a break through in soaps today… all the ridiculous soaps that went on and here came Passions to make a joke out of them all. I loved it, and it was fresh. Sure it got pretty crazy but as it seemed to me to be all part of the show, and always made you watch one more day of it.

If not direct tv is going to have a lot of people that will not like them. You should work something out for it to stay on NBC for low income people. So what was the reason behind NBC cancelling Passions, does anyone know? Does it have something to do with the nature of the soap, example; Tabitha and the supernatural? If so why now, its been on air for years.
I have had DirectTV for over a year now, so it won’t hinder my viewing of the show. But I think the move is ribiculous and NBC will be sorry for it.I hope they work out something for the rest of you all that don’t have DirectTV,good luck guys!!

Your going to loose a lot of viewers possibly more than half. You might as well cancel if you can’t get it on another local station this is the dumbest fuckin move yet. Good luck with keepin the show on after this stupid ass idea goes into affect.

You know what really sucks?! The fact that “Channel 101” isn’t available on the “Family Choice” which is the least expensive of the entire group! May be if it was, more people would switch to Direct TV. Most of us can’t afford it – and it’s sure not worth it if you only watch one tv show.

I had directtv for years, then the price got so high I cannot afford it any more. I switched to Armstrong cable and get both my internet and my cable tv for less than the price of satellite tv by it’s self. And most of the “extra channels” on directtv are all sports, that no one watches. Don’t switch just for one show!

I think it is such a bad decision on NBC part to cancel the show. There is already too much of the today show. Why make room for another hour of it. Why not take millionaire, or something else, like a talk show, or game show off, and keep passions. It really isn’t fare that if someone doesn’t have Direct TV they won’t be able to watch it anymore. I have watched the show since day 1 also. I look forward to it everyday. I think they should at least keep the website and you should be able to watch the episode on the computer, that’s better than nothing. Or maybe make a deal with the soap opera channel and have them play it too. Since the soap opera channel isn’t just Direct TV and comes with most basic cable packages. This is a huge mistake. I will miss watching the show. Please try and work something out for all of the rest of us Passions fans that don’t have Direct TV and can’t get it, cause of Location and price or whatever the reason maybe. Try and make this work for everyone. Please!!!!!

I love the show but, I don’t see the point in switching just to watch one show. Can’t you share it. If you switch it and the people that haven’t been watching it will make the ratings go down. They don’t know anything about the show. All I can say is that I will be very disappointed to lose the show. A loyal fan of Passions but don’t have direct tv.

And now this moving to Directv is saddening to me… I guess they didnt take into consideration what Directv costs and that not everyone can afford it.. oh they quote them low prices to ya.. but when it comes down to it.. its outrageous compared to cable and heck.. to get customer service to listen to ya is almost impossible!! And no… Directv isnt available everywhere… some apartment complexes have cable, or Dishtv, and ya can’t switch if ya live there. I sure hope NBC is happy, I think this was one of their final good shows.. I guarantee ya no one wants 4 hours of that morning show. *no one watches it as it is.*

I live in a house with cheap internet & tv (w/ Comcast Cable) and even if I ould I don’t think it will be worth it. I hope JER gets all the viewers he wants and hopefully the ratings will climb. Otherwise, it will be BYEBYE Passions. Take care everyone.

I think all of us who are fans and can’t get Passions, and yes, we know it was cancelled by NBC, but we should all get a petition up and see if we can at least get the soap channel to air it at night for us so we can see it. I bet if enough of us petitioned against only Direct t.v. users seeing it, and let it be known we want it, and are willing to stand together we could all make a difference and stop this from happening, at least later if not at first….if enough people would stand together we can make a difference..let’s not fuss about it let’s do something about it…and get the show back on regular t.v., what do you say, ??? Let’s be a team if you want me to handle this, let me know, and I’ll get you a way to send me your letters so I can get them to the place to at least try and get this on the road. I’m glad that they moved Passions. They needed to take it off the air completely. I used to watch it sometimes, and it was undoubtedly the dumbest soap opera ever created. They took forever and a day to reveal anything. They had one man (Alistair), running a whole town of people who just threatened to kill him over and over again. Then you had a witch who looked in a big pot and saw everybody’s business, she could do all this magic (like creating a mermaid), but could never do anything to the big bad Alistair Crane. Theresa went after Ethan for years, while Ethan was saying how committed he was to his marriage vows, while all along sleeping with Theresa every chance he got. Whitney was the love of Chad’s life, yet he’s sneaking around with a man. Then you had the whole Miguel-Kay-Fox scenario, which the writers dragged on and on and on and on and on. If anything this show was just a comic relief, if you wanted a good laugh. At least Days Of Our Lives is much closer to reality.

Please bring back passions what are you doing to all of your fans down. Rachel loves passions i been watching passions on the scifi and nbc all the time. I don’t have direct tv at all we have cable instead. I like theresa a lot and ethan to sometimes i like gwen when she is not mean to everyone. Good news that you arrest gwen and her mother along side together. So theresa and ethan can be together from now on. I am so happy that theresa and ethan got married finally everybody will be happy for you. All i got to say is bring passions back on cable.
