In this followup to the piece I did yesterday denouncing The Sun’s printing of a false story about “Doctor Who” coming to an end after Season Four comes this final word on the subject from the BBC.
“Doctor Who” fans can breathe a sigh of relief. The hit series isn’t headed for retirement anytime soon.
The BBC has officially refuted the story in yesterday’s “The Sun” tabloid.
“The BBC has a long-term commitment to ‘Doctor Who,” a BBC Wales spokesman told the South Wales Echo through the official Wales Web site. “We are approaching the climax of a brilliant third [season] and work on [Season] 4 gets under way from next week.”
The iconic program is produced by BBC Wales for broadcast on BBC One, and is Britain’s highest-rated drama. Officials say the show, along with its spinoff “Torchwood” which is set in the city, has significantly boosted the profile of Cardiff.
With that worry out of the way, we can now turn our attention back to things that really matter–like counting down hours until this week’s all new episode, “The Family of Blood.”
