More Star Trek XI Leaks — Where’s the Dutch Boy When You Need Him?

January 12, 2007 By Sam Sloan 5 Comments

200px-pike1.jpgscotty.jpgAccording to IESB.net, an inside annonymous source close to the Star Trek IX movie production has revealed the contents of the first few pages of the script. Not sure what can be gleaned from just a few pages, but like all good Star Trek geeks hungry for data, that won’t prevent us from trying.

According to this “source” there will be some pretty big named actors attached to the flick, with some unknowns also being seen coming in out out of meetings regarding casting.

William Shatner already confirmed that the new storyline will involve a young Kirk and Spock, but what this source revealed is we can expect to also see Captain Christopher Pike (the second Captain to command the Enterprise NCC-1701) and the greatest miracle-working engineer in Starfleet history, Montgomery Scott (Scotty).

In some startling news, the feature film’s storyline will be non-linear, being told from different referenced timeframes, which will allow Shatner and Nimoy to play their older Kirk and Spock characters. Involving Pike’s character in the movie makes sense because Spock served under Pike’s command as a Lt. and his bridge Science Officer.

With each new leak (if they have substance), my anticipation for this film only continues to grow and from the looks of it so far, I think all Trek fans, old and new, are going to enjoy Abrams’ take on the Star Trek universe.

I hope this movie is to Star Trek what Casino Royale was to the Bond franchise. 🙂

The more I hear about this movie the more I find myself thinking it is a train wreck waiting to happen. Who really cares about a movie about Pike? Or this academy days nonsense. Harve Bennett pitched this idea years ago and it was reject. Why? It was stupid. Now they are going back and wanting to do “STXI: The Wonder Years”? Will Shatner or Nimoy narrate the movie as well? Young Kirk? WHO CARES? Young Spock? WHO CARES? I want to see “old Spock” again not some two bit nobody going around “trying to act like Nimoy doing Spock”.

I am sorry but Abrams is nothing more than the Hollywood flavour of the month. He is not even writing the script so really what is so great about him? Lost? Alias? Felicity? Alias barely made 5 seasons and has fallen off the planet in syndication. LOST has started taking a nose dive in the ratings and it is only its 2nd season.

I am sorry but if this leak is true and this is the idea for the new movie then Abrams is only going to provide the final death blow to a once great franchise.

    RIP Star Trek (1966-2006)
