Playwright Tim Griffin talks about Strange Cargo: the Doom of The Demeter, a new horror stage production at CityLit in Chicago, performances from October 18-November 23, 2025.

Based on Chapter Seven of Bram Stoker’s DRACULA, this gothic horror high seas adventure tells the shocking events aboard the cargo ship transporting Count Dracula’s belongings from Transylvania to England, and he talks about how long he’s been working on adapting Chapter 7 to this stage play, highlighting how different it is from the recent feature film The Last Voyage of The Demeter.

Tim loves horror and loves writing horror, and talks about the development of this production, as well as his involvement with Kill Your Darlings Radio, which is (similar to Deathscribe) a one-night-only live performance of short horror radio plays for a fun Halloween-type celebration on October 30 (tickets available now).
