Director Johnny Martin, then actor Maria Elisa Camargo talk about making Off the Grid, a new action-thriller also starring Josh Duhamel, Greg Kinnear and Peter Stormare.

First, Johnny talks about wanting to make an action movie with a different sort of lead, someone who relies on intellect and resourcefulness rather than on guns and fighting skills. His goal was to have both a protagonist and a villain who would be more relatable to develop a more emotional connection with the audience.

Next, Maria Elisa talks about filming in Mississippi, and working with this cast and crew on her first American feature film after working for 20 years in telenovelas. She talks about using her own experiences to build out the personality of Josi and how she feels about her friends and other folks in the town, and more.

Off the Grid is in theaters, on demand and digital on June 27 from Lionsgate.
