Actor Jeremy Kent Jackson and writer-director Brian Skiba stop by to talk about Gunslingers, making a Western that takes place with 1907 Kentucky as a backdrop for a pair of brothers at odds with each others choices.
Jeremy plays Robert Keller, a man whose anger at his brother Thomas (played by Stephen Dorff) has driven him near-mad on his quest to capture his brother and collect a massive $100,000 bounty. He plays the unhinged villain quite well, and he enjoyed figuring out how to work the brothers’ relationship to ground Robert in his resentment and revenge.
Writer-director Brian Skiba talks about why Kentucky, and why 1907 on the edge of the Industrial Revolution, despite his extended history with more traditional Westerns. He also talks about wanting the character dynamics to work, and the challenges and fun of filming a Western in such a remote area of the Kentucky hills.
Gunslingers is out April 11 from Lionsgate.
