Director Martin Campbell talks about the appeal of having a “Die Hard”-style film featuring a woman, with the challenges of filming on the outside of a building for much of the story.

Martin feels the twist of having the group taking over the building suffering from a shift in power and objectives adds a different level to the stakes of the crisis, which makes Joey’s (Daisy Ridley) conflict with the unhinged friend Noah (Taz Skylar) just that more intense. He also enjoyed having Daisy perform most of her own fight stunts to add a better level of realism to what he had to film.

And Summer really does think “Cleaner” has more in common with “Under Siege” than with “Die Hard”.

CLEANER is in theaters February 21st.
