Director Euros Lyn and actor Harry Baxendale stop by to talk about The Radleys, a new black comedy-horror “family drama”… where the family are vampires just trying to blend in to suburbia.

First, Euros talks about his approach to building the lives of the members of the family, and how their lives are completely upended once the children learn the family secret: that they are vampires. We also talk about dusing practical special effects, equating the abstinence from blood like dealing with an addiction, and more.

Next, Harry talks about portraying a typical suburban teenager and the associated growing pains, with learning about their secret identity as vampires just adding to the angst. He also talks about loving working with Damian Lewis and the way he played two different characters, and other things he loved about working on this film.

And I didn’t learn until later that it’s based on a novel: The Radleys: A Novel by Matt Haig

The Radleys is in theaters, on demand and on digital on October 4th.
