Review: “Supernatural: The Fifteenth & Final Season” It's the end of the road, but for fans the journey continues here

May 26, 2021 By Summer Brooks Leave a Comment

“Supernatural” has been a genre television staple since September 2005, and what a wild ride it has been. The story of the Winchesters and their adventures, their battles against evil continued to grow, and the show’s fans continued to make that world more and more of their own.

Not many TV shows get a run that long, much less a genre show, so everything that the “Supernatural” team accomplished is now a monument to a good story and the loyalty and love that can be sustained when all the parts click together. This show has built a mythology all its own, and fans will definitely watch & rewatch this series for years to come (see what magic happens when you have a series ending that makes sense?).

Discs 1-3 contain the 20 episodes, and of the ones that do include deleted scenes, those scenes are extras, outside of the episode frameworks, many without visual effects.

Disc 4 is all bonus features, mostly documentary featurettes and for any fan of the show these are must-haves:

Supernatural: The End of the Road (New)
Supernatural: Family Don’t End in Blood (New)
Gag Reel (New)
Deleted Scenes (New)
Supernatural: 2019 Comic-Con Panel
Winning Baby: A Supernatural Giveaway
Winchester Mythology: Midwestern Heroes
Supernatural: The Long Road Home – Special Retrospective Episode

I’m only slightly annoyed that there aren’t any commentary tracks on any of the episodes. Not a single one… maybe the extra featurettes are as detailed as they are to make up for no episodic commentaries, but I would have at least loved to have heard something for “Inherit the Earth”.

Still, the story closes on a strong emotional note, one that will not discourage people from wanting to watch again from the very beginning.

Carry on, our wayward sons. Carry on.

In addition to the Season 15 set, fans can also explore “Supernatural: The Complete Series” which contains all 327 thrilling episodes from the phenomenal series, as well as countless hours of bonus features from all 15 epic, not-to-be-missed seasons.

Fans who purchase the Complete Series will also receive a 68-page Collectible Book filled with new images from the beloved series, set designs and letters to the Supernatural Family from both Eric Kripke and Robert Singer.

Supernatural: The Complete Series

Follow the thrilling and terrifying journey of the Winchester brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) as they face everything from demons to vampires, ghosts, angels and pagan gods. And with the help of the fallen angel Castiel (Misha Collins), they discover that every threat they vanquish opens a new door for evil to enter.

Both Supernatural: The Fifteenth & Final Season and Supernatural: The Complete Series will be available on Blu-ray & DVD on May 25th from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
