Sidewalk Furniture is an angry nerd-rock band based in Durham NC, and “Reimagined Thrill” is their first full album, released on April 15. The members are Riley (lead vocals), Shelby (bass), Shante (guitar), and Lily Fey (drums), and in addition to being rockers, they are well-versed in various fandoms, something that’s reflected in the songs on the album.

The album has a variety of tones through the track list, while touching on Star Trek and Star Wars and also hitting on a few feminist and queer themes. And did I mention the beautiful angry rock vibes? Promotions and live gigs are on hold while things are still in various levels of social distancing and shutdowns, but they are planning on getting more songs written so hopefully we’ll see a lot more from them in 2021.

There was also a journey from the band starting out as a folk trio to becoming a punk rock quartet, and that’s a story that needs to be the basis for a quest adventure.

You can listen to the track “Stormtrooper” here, and also enter to be eligible for a download code to get a copy of the album for yourself!

I loved this episode!. I have never heard Indie geek bands before but I will be listening for Sidewalk furniture in the future. As a Buffy Fan would love some buffy songs as well as the rest of the geeky fandoms. I am looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.
