Killjoys S2: Aaron AshmoreThis week, Aaron Ashmore (“Johnny Jaqobis”) stops by for a chat about the new look and the new focus on Killjoys for Season 2, and what those changes mean for his character and the team as a whole.

What’s happening on Westerley to the people of Old Town seems to be affecting Johnny more deeply than Dutch and D’avin, and not just because they’re distracted by Khlyen’s mission and what it means for the RAC and the Quad. Aaron talks about how those feelings may be both the thing that leads Johnny into trouble, but also makes him resolved to do the right thing.

Also, Summer’s examination of Killjoys being the new Firefly is online now.

Re: Hulu, and the CW shows
Hulu is simply ”syndicating” their free ad supported offerings to Yahoo View, rather than offer it themselves, under the guise of, as you mentioned, aligning themselves closer to Netflix and Amazon as they can. The same free content is also provided to other sites including Comcast, and a few other cable systems for their On Demand sections.

CW signed a deal with Netflix for faster ”end of season” access to a concluded season. Starting with the 2016-17 season, Netflix will get a just concluded season 8 days after the season ender, instead of the normal months later after the dvd season box sets are released.

The CW mentioned during the recent TCAs-Television Critics Association confab, that they will also be releasing an app for Roku, and presumably, other set top boxes that will allow same week viewing of their shows now that their relationship with Hulu will be ending next month. So fans can still watch weekly using a set top streaming box, or going online to the CW’s website.
    Thank for the show.

The Netflix “faster access” deal makes sense. I noticed that “Dark Matter” S1 showed up there less than a month after that season ended, and I believe that Agents of SHIELD had their concluded seasons show up fairly quickly, too. So CW jumping on that bandwagon only raises their shows’ profiles.

I wonder if this push from Hulu as well as their goal to make more original content comes from both them and Netflix losing Doctor Who to Amazon. Not that I’m complaining much… more original content makes them less beholden to the studios and networks, and may give them more leverage in the long run… they who have more subscribers gets to bring a bigger chair to the negotiations table 🙂

      Thanks for listening!
