NBC to Stream “Constantine” This Weekend Fans are still waiting for news on a Season 2

Matt Ryan as John Constantine

I am one of the people on pins and needles waiting for news on whether Constantine will be picked up for a Season 2, by NBC or Syfy Channel, or if maybe it’ll get a second wind on a new network. The waiting makes me crazy.

Much like Firefly, I fell hard for this show, and fast. Matt Ryan’s portrayal of John Constantine was delicious because of how spot on it was, and allowing him to smoke on screen just added to the character’s fatalistic but never-quit attitude.

One bright spot of hope is that NBC will make all of Season 1 available for streaming this weekend from their website, starting Friday. Is this a gesture to the social media fan outpuring to #SaveConstantine? I do hope it’s a good sign, and while I’d rather they made all the episodes available on Hulu as well, I plan to rewatch the early episodes that have long since rolled off of Hulu as being available (as of today, you can still watch the final 5 episodes on Hulu and Hulu Plus).

The one tidbit I stumbled across that disturbs my upbeat and positive outlook on renewal is that all show details for Constantine seem to have already been removed from NBC’s Media Village press site, including the dedicated show page that contained all the promo stills from the episodes and pre-season cast/character photos. Not sure when it was done, but I know the show page and photos were still online on April 15.

In any event, we all just have to wait until May to find out what NBC decides and where we’ll go next to watch the show, or, if much like Firefly, all we’ll be left with is a DVD for Season 1 to watch over and over again… until, maybe like Serenity, we get a feature film.

Well damn. That’s a helluva downer to start the weekend off with. And the early eps were pulled from Hulu last night, too.
