“Resurrection” Sunday

“Resurrection” Sunday

March 7, 2014 By S. K. Sloan 3 Comments

returned ABC’s new series Resurrection will see the return of Omar Epps to weekly television, only this time in the lead. Epps starred in the ratings hit and critically acclaimed Fox series House for eight seasons.

This new series is based on the French television show titled The Returned which was loosely based on the Jason Mott novel “The Returned.” Actor Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B Entertainment will be co-producing.

The show takes place in Arcadia, Missouri a rural town in the Show Me State. The lives of its residents are forever altered when deceased loved ones begin reappearing in their physical bodies at the same age they were when they died. The longest-gone resurrected person is eight year old Jacob Langston who drowned over thirty two years earlier. One of the biggest mysteries about Jacob, besides his resurrection, is where he was discovered wandering around – in China.

Resurrection co-stars Devin Kelley (Covert Affairs, The Chicago Code), Frances Fisher (Touch, Titanic) and Kurtwood Smith (That 70’s Show, 24). It premieres on ABC Sundays beginning March 9, 2014.

Watch the French production! It has been broadcast on the Sundance channel since the end of last October. It is quite good and is well worth the time. Kind of slow to develop and makes you try to figure out what is happening, which is much nicer than a lot of American shows that bludgeon you over the head with the facts. If you liked the pacing of Charlie Jade, you might like this.

Wow, talk about timing. I just found The Returned on Netflix Streaming earlier this week and added it to my list… may have to start watching it sooner than I’d intended (and you know what a big fan of Charlie Jade I am)! 🙂
