“Sinbad” Returns For a Fifth Adventure

“Sinbad” Returns For a Fifth Adventure

January 22, 2014 By S. K. Sloan 2 Comments

Sinbad returns to the big screen with Sinbad: The Fifth Voyage starring Shahin Sean Solimon (Djinn) – who also serves as the film’s director and co-writer, and Sadie Alexandru (Mad Men) in this live-action/animated adventure narrated by Star Trek and X-Men’s Sir Patrick Stewart.

Shot in what is being dubbed Super Animotion the stop-motion animation sequences that blend live-action with the “animotion” is a bit reminiscent of the late, great Ray Harryhausen’s work.

Based on the magical stories from The Arabian Nights this fifth voyage of Sinbad the Sailor is undertaken with several cohorts to save Princess Parisa (Danielle Duvale [Pollack]) from an evil sorcerer who has kidnapped her from her father, the Sultan’s, tent. During Sinbad’s journey to rescue the princess he runs into all sorts of magical beings and strange creatures.

Sinbad: The Fifth Voyage opens in U.S. theaters on February 7, 2014.

Here is a trailer for the film:

Well, at least what they paid for Patrick Stewart they saved by going with Hercules and Xena-style, really bad green-screen and CGI. I think I’ll pass on this one for, like, ever.

I’ll watch it when it comes to SyFy on a Saturday evening.
