The recently released trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 may have offered fans a glimpse not only of the upcoming sequel, but also the future of the Spider-Man franchise.
Watching the trailer, you can see hints of the Sinister Six coming to the big-screen in the near future.
But instead of battling Spidey in an upcoming installment, we could see the team-up of super villains headlining their own film.
According to Deadline, Mutant Enemy alum Drew Goddard is developing a script for a possible Sinister Six spin-off film.
This would be Goddard’s second dip into the Marvel universe. He’s also been tapped to be the showrunner for Netflix’s upcoming Daredevil series.
But the Sinister Six won’t be the only ones getting a Spidey-spin-off.
The long in development Venom movie is also getting off the ground. Writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Ed Solomon are writing a script for Venom with Kurtzman in the director’s seat.
Sounds like that’s a lot of Spider-Man universe headed to our screens. This approach has been a success for the X-Men franchise but not as much for Daredevil and Batman.
Where do you think these projects will land, and are you eager to see any or all of them?
