AMC’s monster hit The Walking Dead will shamble on.
The cable outlet renewed the series today for a fifth season. Given the huge ratings for the show (it’s the most popular show on TV, delivering 20.2 million viewers overall for the season premiere over the course of three days), it was pretty much a no-brainer that the series would be back.
What we don’t know yet is how much of the Dead we’ll get next year. AMC has not yet told us how many episodes will be ordered for next year.
We can tell you that the show will have the same show runner for two consecutive seasons. Scott Gimple, who took over those duties to start season four, will be back as showrunner for season five.
