Hulu+, BBC Join Both Hands

Hulu+, BBC Join Both Hands

September 19, 2013 By Sam Sloan 2 Comments

Americans now have a new way to access more of their favorite British television programs. Hulu Plus and BBC America have joined hands across the water to now include a great deal more of the BBC lineup of shows.

Some programs in a limited fashion have been there already for viewers such as “Misfits.” However, now with this new partnership a whole bevy of BBC shows will now be available to view from the Hulu Plus internet service.

The big gem in the crown will be Doctor Who. Also included are Red Dwarf, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood, Robin Hood, The Fades, Primeval and so much more.

The other great news for Hulu Plus subscribers is all the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary features will be ready to watch immediately.

Besides all the scifi genre other favorite programs like Sherlock, Luther, Wallander, A Bit of Fry & Laurie, Blackadder, a host of different David Attenborough nature specials, Top Gear, Upstairs, Downstairs, Bleak House, The Thick of It, and more are also to be featured in the new partnership.

In all American audiences using Hulu Plus to watch their favorite BBC America programming will get over 2,000 episodes of online television. Some of these shows will also be available on the free Hulu service in a limited fashion. But, for the low monthly fee for Hulu Plus it really makes sense to go all out and get it all.

I was intrigued by this until I did a little digging and discovered that the classic Doctor Who offering is exactly the same set of episodes offered by other streaming sites. :::sigh:::

There are some good stories in there, I’ll admit it. But I find myself wishing that audiences discovering Who via the new series would have a chance to see more of the classic series — warts and all.
