Kick-Ass 3 Will Be It For the Franchise

Kick-Ass 3 Will Be It For the Franchise

August 30, 2013 By Sam Sloan 2 Comments

KickAss3Kick-Ass 3 will end the film franchise, according to creator Mark Millar. He has also encouraged studio producers to move quickly as the film series’ stars are getting older by the minute.

“It’s the end,” stated Millar. “It’s weird. My agent keeps saying to me, ‘We’re making a lot of money here. Let’s do Kick-Ass 4 and 5.’ But I said, ‘No, I’ve got to stay true to my principles.’” “I want to end it where I want to end it,” continued Millar. “Because when I first put this together in 2006, I had this ending and it’s the very logical conclusion. To milk it beyond that either means I’ve got greedy or I’ve come up with some brilliant new idea, but it probably pretty much ends with Kick-Ass 3. I’ve always seen it as a trilogy.”

Commenting on how much time can elapse between 2 and 3 Millar stated that he doesn’t believe they can wait as long as they did with 1 and 2. Chloe Moretz is currently 16 years old and her co-star Aaron Taylor-Johnson just recently turned 23. Millar is pushing producers by telling them, “I don’t think we can wait that long because the youth of the characters is really important…we need to move fast with it.”

I’m glad it’s going to end with three. It’s a good film series, but some of the best stories are those that end.

‘My agent keeps saying to me, ‘We’re making a lot of money here.”‘

Why no mention in this article about the fact that Kick-Ass 2 totally flopped?
