Casey Affleck Enters Into Sci-Fi

Casey Affleck Enters Into Sci-Fi

August 22, 2013 By Sam Sloan 3 Comments

casey_affleck While the news that Ben Affleck is the new Batman is huge, little brother Casey Affleck isn’t about to get any of his thunder stolen by that news. On the heels of his big brother’s Dark Knight revelation is the story of Casey’s new sci-fi project now officially in the works.

Casey is set to star as the lead in the big screen adaptation of To Be Two or Not to Be and will carry the official title of “To Be Two.”

Story centers around a future society in which teleportation over vast distances is commonplace. However, unlike Star Trek’s beaming technology when teleportation occurs the original person isn’t what arrives at the destination point. The original is vaporized in the teleportation process and what arrives at its port-of-call is an exact, reconstructed, atom by atom, molecule by molecule copy. Each time teleportation takes place more copies of a copy are the end result.

In To Be Two a malfunction happens during the Casey character’s teleportation event to the planet Mars where the original subject is not vaporized, yet the copy still arrives at its destination. The big philosophical and ethical questions that arise from this first time ever phenomena is the heart of the film.

With hints of a Looper-style scenario authorities set out to terminate the original and big action and intrigue ensue.

The film co-stars Rooney Mara and Ben Foster and will be directed by Saints filmmaker David Lowery. Affleck not only stars but will also serve as the movie’s executive producer.

Enrico Colantoni played the main character dealing with the huge moral and ethical dilemma. The only difference between the episode “Think Like A Dinosaur” is that this movie doesn’t appear to have intelligent dinosaurs, yet…
