Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci aren’t done exploring the final frontier.
They have been asked to write the script for the next Star Trek movie. Kurtzman and Orci have written the last two installments in the rebooted Star Trek universe. Damon Lindelof also shared writing credit on this summer’s Star Trek Into Darkness. Sources say Lindelof will not be back for the third chapter of the rebooted franchise.
According to reports, J.J. Abrams will return to produce the film, though whether or not he’ll direct is unknown.
Reports have surfaced in recent weeks that the studio would tap new writers for Star Trek 3 and had met with Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz to possibly pen. Rumors swirled that other young writing teams were being courted for their takes.
There’s no timetable yet for when the third Star Trek reboot will begin production.
