CBS Film has optioned the rights to Trevor Shane’s debut young adult novel Children of Paranoia.
The studio is developing a movie based on the novel and they’re bringing in some high profile genre talent to do it. Akiva Goldsman has been tapped to pen the produce and former Battlestar Galactica and Smallville writer Mark Verheiden will write the script.
Paranoia tells of a secret war that’s been waged for centuries and acted via assassinations that pass off as accidents or acts of random violence. A young assassin is fighting for one side when he falls in love with a woman who makes him questions the world as he knows it, including if he’s on the right side or not.
The book, the first of a YA trilogy, came out in August of 2012.
