“Sharknado” Earns One Night Theatrical Showing

“Sharknado” Earns One Night Theatrical Showing

July 26, 2013 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Syfy’s hit movie Sharknado will get a one night showing at over 200 Regal cinemas across the United States.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the made-for-TV movie will get a one-time showing on August 2.

The showings will be in theaters at midnight at Regal outlets across the country. The theater chain is hoping Sharknado could become a midnight cult hit along the lines of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

“You know how audiences have had fun with Rocky Horror Picture Show over the years. If the internet reactions to this film are any indication, then our moviegoers are primed and ready to enjoy Sharknado larger than life in cinemas,” Chris Sylvia, director of digital marketing for Regal Entertainment Group, said in a statement. “Regal is proud to be giving our guests this chance to fuel the social media whirlwind by inviting friends to come to the show and tweeting reactions.”

Ken Thewes, Regal’s chief marketing officer added: “There’s just something epic about watching these huge beasts on the big screen with your friends and family. The crowd reactions will make for a memorable experience in our theatres.”

Tickets will cost $12.50 each.

Worst SyFy movie I’ve ever seen. And I don’t mean that in a good way.

It was so damned bad it was good….on the level of Plan Nine From Outer Space – so bad it must be seen over and over and over again.
