Director Alfonso Cuaron took a moment to apologize for the trailer of his upcoming movie Gravity during a panel this afternoon at Comic Con.
Cuaron says that the trailer, showing explosions in outer space, isn’t an accurate representation of the movie.
“They put in explosions [in the trailer]. As we know, there is no sound in space. In the film, we don’t do that,” he said.
Cuaron then showed off an extended scene with stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the scene shows Clooney and Bullock’s characters making repairs to a space station when word arrives that space debris is headed toward them. Before they can get to cover, all hell breaks loose.
Bullock then surprised the crowd by emerging onto the stage in the crowded hall. She described some of what she went through to make the film, including details on being insulated in a nine-by-nine foot cube that was suspended in the air, surrounded by LED lights and robots holding cameras. In between takes, the actress tried to remain “in the zone” by listening to specific music.
Bullock trained for several months before production on Gravity began.
The film is set to hit theaters later this year.
