Lionsgate teased fans of the best-selling novel Divergent with a first look at footage from the upcoming movie adaptation.
The studio offered fans of a recently completed and edited sequence from the film during a packed panel at San Diego Comic Con. The sequence shown was a dramatic one, showing Triss boarding a train by jumping off the roof of a building onto the moving train.
Director Neil Burger and stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James interacted with fans just two days after principle photography on the film was complete. They were joined by author Veronica Roth.
Woodley told the packed exhibit hall that one of the highlights of the production was a sequence in which her character crowd surfs.
“How often do you get to crowd surf for 45 minutes … in a controlled environment?” she said, making fun of the prolonged shoot the scene required.
Roth said being on set reminded her of details from the first novel.
“I remember being surprised of the water tanks,” she said, mentioning a particular sequence. “I forgot that part and when I got on set, I saw the actual water and tanks and Shailene actually swimming in it. I was like, Oh. My. God.”
