The team behind the Texas Chainsaw reboot is bringing us a reboot of Day of the Dead.
Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell’s Campbell Grobman Films have snapped up the rights to the ’80s movie and will reboot the property for release in 2014.
“Zombie movies are really popular right now, and we feel we could do this right,” Campbell told the Los Angeles Times.
She added: “We want to keep it as close to the Romero version as possible, to make sure that his fans are happy. These are not going to be zombies climbing walls and doing back flips like in World War Z.”
Day of the Dead was originally released in 1985 following on from the success of Romero’s earlier zombie films Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. The movie followed a group of survivors holed up in an underground bunker to shelter from zombies on the surface.
A previous remake of Day of the Dead was released in 2008 with Mena Suvari and Nick Cannon leading the cast.
