The hunt for a new Mary Jane Watson didn’t take long.

Actress  Sarah Gadon has been cast in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man sequel. While details of her character aren’t yet known, many believe Gadon will take over as Mary Jane Watson.

The role of M.J. came open earlier this week when Shailene Woodley left the project and the franchise.  This was after the role had been substantially cut for the upcoming sequel.

Reports indicate that Mary Jane will be a bigger character in the third and fourth installments of the series.  Sony has already locked down dates for those two films.

Gadon is currently starring in Cosmopolis.
