Popular comic book series Locke and Key is getting a second chance to come to our screens.
The series was adapted as a pilot for Fox a few years ago, but didn’t get picked up. It could now come to screens as a movie.
Universal picked up the rights to the series yesterday.
Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Bobby Cohen will produce via their Universal-based K/O Paper Products banner. Ted Adams, the CEO and publisher of IDW Publishing, the company behind the comic, also will produce.
Locke & Key tells of three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts. They soon discover the house has magical keys that give the bearers a vast array of powers and abilities. However, a devious creature is also after the keys, forcing the family to make a stand against evil.

While I would have loved to see this get properly developed and shown as a series, I’ll be more than happy to see this made for the cinema. Given the amount of fantasy stories that are out there (both good and bad) this is one that definitely needs to be done!!!

I believe they showed the pilot that FOX created at San Diego Comic Con back in 2011 in the hopes of drumming up some support. There are some clips from it up on You Tube. It had the lovely Ksenia Solo (aka Kenzi from Lost Girl) as a cast member and you can see her in this clip …
