Are you one of those fans of science fiction that may love the genre but, like myself, also gets geeky excited at the very thought of some of the real science behind many of those quirky things we see each week on our big and small screens?
If you are one of the club then BBC America has the program to fulfill your every fancy. It’s called “Bang Goes the Theory,” and is hosted by British television actor and announcer Dallas Campbell and his crew of bonafide scientists like biochemist Liz Bonnin, engineer Jem Stansfield and evolutionary biologist Dr. Yan Wong. The show is so popular it’s in its 6th season in the U.K. which began on 27 July 2009 on BBC One and has been made available for viewing in the U.S.
Each episode of the show examines all the important scientific issues of the day that affect everyday people. Mixed in are spectacular experiments, new scientific innovations and a look into what will likely be future impacts of today’s discoveries.
The show premieres tonight, June 4 on BBC America and investigates why gas costs consumers so much money and if there is a scientific way to not only make petro more economical but someday have it be free.
New episodes will tackle future methods of digital data storage and if the Cloud is really the miracle it appears to be, how our modern world and life-style is literally destroying our ears and a look into how computer hackers are able to easily access smartphones and what you can do to protect your privacy and information.
These and a bevy of other scientific topics are investigated, examined and calculated over the length of the series every Tuesday evening on BBC America at 9PM/8C.
