Sony Won’t Let Spider-Man Out Of Its Web

Sony Won’t Let Spider-Man Out Of Its Web

May 23, 2013 By Mike Hickerson Leave a Comment

If you were hoping that Spider-Man might eventually swing his way into one of the Marvel Studios movies, we have some bad news.  Sony co-chair Amy Pascal says her studio will “never ever ever” let the rights to the character get away.

The studio denies reports that it is in talks to sell the movie-rights to Spidey back to Marvel.

The report apparently emerged from a misunderstanding regarding Sony’s rumored plans to separate its entertainment and technology divisions into two separate companies.

While Marvel Studios controls The Avengers and related properties, 20th Century Fox retains the rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Sony holds Spider-Man.

Several properties – including Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Blade – have recently reverted to Marvel.
