With Game of Thrones growing in the ratings with each showing, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood decided to jump on-board the epic fantasy bandwagon.
And that could be good news for the long in development reboot of Dungeons and Dragons.
According to Deadline, Warner Brothers is interested in moving a reboot movie based on the classic role playing game into production. The script is from David Leslie Johnson who gave us Wrath Of The Titans, Red Riding Hood and according to reports, WB is willing to give the movie a pretty good sized budget.
The screenplay was originally titled Chainmail and was based on a similar game crafted byD&D designer Gary Gygax before he launched Dungeons. It’s being re-written for D&D, Deadline reports.
It goes without saying that Warner Brothers is hoping the movie will be the launch point for a whole new franchise of films based on the game. That means it will have to attract not only hard core D&D fans but also casual fans who don’t know how to make a saving throw on a 20-sided dice.

Facepalm… time to get Joss Whedon involved. I shudder at what travesty they’re going to resurrect this time, considering the last couple of movies which really had no connection to D&D other than generic village mobs, dragons, and assorted “classes” of characters.
