Looking to scare up viewers, MTV has given the go-ahead for a pilot based on the Scream franchise.
The series will be produced by Dimension Films, who gave us the four movies in the series and the pilot could be directed by Wes Craven. The cable outlet is currently looking for writers to adapt the movie series for television.
No word yet on if Kevin Williamson, who wrote the scripts for the films, will be involved in the new series.
If the series gets an order, it would air in the summer of 2014, joining MTV’s other scripted series Teen Wolf and Awkward.
