“I have returned, to have my vengeance…”

    ???????

I still can’t see him as being Khan… I’m sticking with my original idea that he’s Garth of Izar.

I don’t think so. Even in the re-booted timeline there is very little chance it could be Gary. He became friends with Kirk in the original timeline while a cadet in a class that Kirk taught at the Academy (Where No Man Has Gone Before). Given that Kirk acquired command of the Enterprise in the re-booted timeline LOOOONG before it happened originally, I would have to say that, at best, Gary Mitchell would be a first year cadet and therefore wouldn’t have made it out to the edge of the galaxy to get zapped.

Nope, I’m sticking with Garth. He was a very charismatic leader, even after his own crew mutinied against him. Besides, he was a member of Starfleet before Kirk enrolled in the Academy, and if he did go insane in the re-booted timeline (which would make sense as he’s just a bit further removed from the changes in the timeline) he would have an axe to grind against Starfleet and cause for revenge.

But the comics have done the Mitchell plotline and it’s an easy flashback to it.

It could and (I think) should happen
