Looks like we won’t see a galaxy far, far away in 3-D after all. Well, except for the Phantom Menace, that is.
Disney has cancelled the 3-D release of the remaining Star Wars movies. According to Deadline, Disney says that it wants LucasFilm to focus its efforts on the new trilogy of films.
It could also be because George Lucas insisted on 3-D rendering the films in numerical order instead of the order of their release. A re-release of A New Hope might have cleaned up at the box office.
No word yet on if there the idea of converting the films to 3-D might be re-visited again at some point.
