To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Syfy, Slice of SciFi and Syfy have teamed up to give one (1) lucky reader/listener a great holiday gift.
We’ve got a copy of the new book, The Science Fiction Universe… And Beyond. The book chronicles the history of Sci-Fi; from 1902 to what we thought 2066 would look like; everything from George Méliès’ iconic film, A Trip to the Moon, to the most well-known superhero alien, Superman.
Included below is an excerpt from the book’s introduction.
“Science fiction is important. In fact, I believe that sci-fi could be the most important genre in all of literature, television, and film. Through science fiction, every aspect of the human condition can be explored, just like in any other genre. But science fiction has the added benefit of stimulating the intellect and imagination, while simultaneously providing visual, suspenseful, exciting, and moving entertainment. Over the years, science fiction has also become one of the most successful entertainment genres, with new movies, television series, and books sitting atop theatrical box office lists, Nielsen television ratings, and best-seller lists.”
