At this point, it’s big news if a blockbuster film decides it won’t be 3-D.
Joining the list of 3-D super hero blockbusters is Zach Snyder’s Man of Steel.
The film wasn’t shot in 3-D and will have to be converted before its release. But Snyder says we needn’t worry about that because he kept 3-D in mind while shooting the Superman reboot.
“The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow Man of Steel to captivate those moviegoers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We’ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement,” Snyder said in a press release.
This is not news. When a film gets released everyone (including the people who don’t like 3D) expects it to be in 3D. Like the start of the article says “At this point, it’s big news if a blockbuster film decides it won’t be 3-D.”

The only ‘audience’ I’m intimately aware of having embraced 3D today is my girlfriend’s 7 year old daughter, and she’s not buying the higher priced ticket. I gave 3D a shot once, with “Monsters Vs. Aliens”; compared to the 3D effect achieved in the western “Comin’ At Ya!” way back when…Hells bells, I still have Viewmaster reels that deliver a better 3D experience.
Oh well, Yawn..
I don’t care if the Snyder directed the movie in 2D, but with 3D in mind… I’m still NOT going to see it in 3D because I don’t like how it comes off. Even movies that ARE shot in 3D are not very enjoyable for me to watch.
I don’t know what audience he’s talking about, but I’m certainly not embracing the whole 3D movie going experience. I’ll stick with 2D any day!!!
