Marvel Movie Crossovers?

Marvel Movie Crossovers?

October 9, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

What would comic books be without crossovers?

Marvel, like its competitor DC, has featured a variety of crossovers on the printed page over the years. But with various characters rights owned by different studios, the odds of seeing an X-Man or two in the next Avengers universe film look pretty slim.

A move this summer to have an Easter Egg crossover between The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man never saw the light of day, but fans may have hope that a crossover could occur in the future.

X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner says she’d love to see the mutants crossover into other Marvel movies.

“I would love it,” Donner said. “I would love it. I personally have close ties to Marvel because of Kevin Feige, because Kevin worked for me. But to take our characters and mingle them in the way that they were written, yeah, absolutely.”

And speaking of the second Avengers installment, we’ve heard word that Emily Blunt might be joining the cast.  This isn’t the first time Blunt has been linked to the cinematic Marvel universe.  You may recall that she was cast as Black Widow initially before a schedule conflict forced her to leave Iron Man 2.

Now Blunt could get the chance to be part of the Avengers universe as Ms. Marvel. British tabloid The Daily Sun reports that Blunt and actress Luther star Ruth Wilson are in the running for the role.

Before you get too excited, we should point out that this is the first we’ve heard about a role for Ms. Marvel in the Avengers sequel. We should also point out that the story comes from a British tabloid and that it is probably best taken with a huge grain of salt.

I’d settle for at least background cameos, spidey swing in the distance, falling debris found caught in a web, news reports citing mutant sitings. Four freedoms plaza or the baxter building in the background. just a little nod to the rest of the characters. Come on rights holders be a little flexible, after all it would spark interest in those characters too.
