Will “Avengers 2” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” Feature the Same Adversary?

September 19, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

The end of this year’s biggest (so far) hit, The Avengers offered viewers a hint of where the Marvel movie universe is headed in future installments.

The post-credits teaser reveals Thanos as the adversary behind the attack on Earth and hints that the character will play a pivotal role as the movies move forward.

Web site  CosmicBookNews.com is reporting that Thanos will be the adversary in not one but two upcoming Marvel films–the second Avengers installment and The Guardians of the Galaxy.  According to the site, the two films will adapt the “Thanos Imperative” storyline from the comics for the two films.

Reportedly, the storyline would start in Guardians and then cross-over to Avengers 2.

A site reader over at Cosmic Book News claims to have met with Thanos creator Jim Starlin at the Montreal Comic-Con, and was told that a deal “is already in place” to have the character appear in both movies.

Of course, there’s nothing official on the news just yet from Marvel.  We’ve also heard that Thanos could be an element in Thor 2.

It makes sense based upon WHO they’re fighting and possibly the scale of his threat.

Thanos is the endgame type character…. you need all of the heavy hitters to take him down… especially if they halfway touch the Infinity Gauntlet material.
