Fox Green Lights Sci-Fi Project From “Life on Mars'” Creator

Fox Green Lights Sci-Fi Project From “Life on Mars'” Creator

August 27, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

Life on Mars creator Matthew Graham’s new sci-fi project Para Time has found a home at Fox.

Details on the project are being kept under wraps.  According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series will focus on policing of parallel universes.

Graham’s Mars centered on a present-day cop who finds himself back in 1973. It was remade by ABC in 2008. Graham, who also wrote on Eastenders and Doctor Who, also co-created such series as Ashes to Ashes and Eternal Law.

So, as normal with Fox, I see one of several scenarios playing out for this show (in no particular order):

    1) They don’t support it or advertise it so it gets no traction and no viewers.
    2) They show it on Friday night for three weeks, then move it to Wednesday night for two weeks, then Thursday night for three weeks, then cancel it by Thanksgiving because of lack of viewers (except for people with DVRs that record seasons!).
    3) They show the episodes out of order so the entire show doesn’t make any sense.
    4) Or, the most popular Fox trick, they cancel it for no apparent reason just as it’s picking up steam and replace it with yet another talent show with some has-been judges!

NotMe, you forgot that it will be on hiatus for 3 weeks due to the MLB playoffs, then one episode aired, then on hiatus again for the winter break, THEN cancelled to make room for American Nascar Idol.

lol You’ve hit it on the head. Would be funny if it wasn’t so frustrating.

Hopefully, he’s aware that his series premise is exaltly the same as H. Beam Piper’s Para Time and Lord Kalvan stories and novels.

    Say hello to Vercan Vall….

I was waiting for someone to get into the H. Beam Piper catalog. I hope they don’t muck it up (too much).

Read ‘Paratime’ and other short stories to see what this may be.
