Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in conversations to join the big-screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
Adapted from the best-selling young adult series, the movie is directed by Harald Zwart and will begin production next month.
Rhys Meyers has been cast as Valentine Morgenstern, described as a powerful but insane Shadowhunter looking to make the world pure at any cost.
He joins Lilly Collins who plays a young woman who discovers she is the descendant of a secret cadre of half-angel warriors called Shadowhunters locked in an ancient battle to protect the world from demons.
Rhys Meyers is best known for his role on The Tudors. He returns to TV later this year in NBC’s new series Dracula.
