“Ghostbusters 3” Finally Happening Says Ackroyd

“Ghostbusters 3” Finally Happening Says Ackroyd

August 2, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

Dan Ackroyd says Ghostbusters 3 is finally moving forward.

But it’s moving forward without Bill Murray.

Murray has been hesitant to commit the project until he felt the script was good enough to warrant the sequel.

Now it appears that the team has decided to move forward without him.

“It’s sad but we’re passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn’t seem to be coming and we have to move on. It’s time to make the third one,” he tells Metro.

Do you think it’s a good idea to make a new Ghostbusters without Murray?  Or at all?

Interestingly, Murray’s role was originally meant for John Belushi. I’m a fan of the Belushi comedy, so if they were to sign Jim into the film, this could be perfect.

Maybe if Ghostbusters 3 was about a washed up scientist whose wife didn’t love him any more and he was seeking that one ghost who got away after killing his lifelong friend. He could also find a son he never knew he had and be relegated to doing Ghostbusting in a foreign country where he is valued as a Western oddity. Peter Venckman lives in regret that nobody can understand. He just wants to be loved. And Count Viggo speaks to him on a subway, but Peter is the only one who can see or hear him. In the end, everybody dies but Peter. He gets even sadder and decides to just sit around and piss and moan to himself. And they could break some flowers, too. Directed by Wes Anderson and REALLY starring Jason Schwartzman.

My bet is on Spengler and Stantz training a crew of new Ghostbusters. Starring Bradley Cooper, Seth Green, Bernie Mac and Jack Black.

    Right? RIGHT????

Replace Jack Black with Patton Oswalt, and Bernie Mac (deceased) with Ice Cube, and yeah, I’d pay to see that movie 🙂

I’ll believe it when I see the first trailer. Until then… I’m taking a hiatus form all GB3 news.
