Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has signed on for a pivotal role in the upcoming Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hoffman will play the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, head gamemaker for the Hunger Games.
Hoffman’s name had circled the role for several weeks, but an offer formally went out Monday, the same day the actor ended his 18-year association with his agency, Paradigm.

Francis Lawrence will direct Catching Fire, which Lionsgate is eyeing a September start.
