Garfield Wants Spidey Sequel

Garfield Wants Spidey Sequel

June 27, 2012 By Michael Hickerson 1 Comment

While The Amazing Spider-Man won’t hit theaters for another week, Sony is already counting on the film to be a huge hit. Early projections show the film on track to earn over $100 million on its opening weekend and that could be the right figure for Sony to order a sequel.

If that’s the case, star Andrew Garfield says he’s eager and ready for more.

“”If we do one, I hope I can do it — I hope they’d let me do it. I hope so,” Garfield tells the Hollywood Reporter.

“That suit has always been a symbol of something for me,” Garfield says of Spider-Man’s costume “Whenever I think about that suit, it makes me feel protected and warm and safe, like I’m free. It’s always been that way since I was three years old. And that relates to the ‘orphan feeling’ of feeling unprotected and unsafe. So putting on the suit, having any affiliation with the suit, is an honor. Because it’s such a symbol of wonderful hope and goodness.”

As for plans for a Spidey sequel, “I think we want to get this one out,” Garfield says. “They already have a release date for the second one. But no script! So we have our priorities in order.”

Here’s how I see it. Rebooted Spiderman film, why watch it when we watched it over five years ago, UNLESS they make Spiderman more like he is in the comics. I always thought Spiderman was boring and serious until I read a comic with him in, he’s almost as bad as Deadpool, if you know what I mean.
