It’s a Race To The Comic Book Altar

It’s a Race To The Comic Book Altar

June 6, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Two comic book couples are headed to the altar.

Marvel announced last week that the upcoming fifty-first issue of Astonishing X-Men would feature the first gay marriage in a mainstream comic.  Not to be outdone, DC announced that the original Green Lantern Scott Allen was coming out of the closet in the latest issue of Earth 2.

And not only is he coming out, he’s coming out engaged.  The issue hits stores today and according to Blastr, it will feature a proposal from Allen to his boyfriend Sam.

A page from the issue shows the two getting engaged while on a train together.  No word yet on when the two will walk down the aisle together.  If it takes half as long as it did for Superman and Lois to tie the knot, we could be waiting for a couple of years.

The issue is available in stores and digitally today.

I really wish that they would remember that good story telling gets them more readers than political correctness.
