Last week, DC announced that as part of its new rebooted universe, a major character in the DC Universe would come out of the closet.
That character will be revealed next Wednesday when the second issue of Earth 2 hits shelves and e-readers.

In the next issue, original Green Lantern Alan Scott will be reintroduced to the DC Universe and this time around, he’ll be out of the closet.
“He’s going to be the leader of the team, this dynamic hero, he’ll do anything to save people, the bravest man on the planet. Why not just make him gay as well?” says Earth 2 writer James Robinson.
Robinson reveals that the idea for this plot development came last year after the DC reboot removed Alan Scott’s gay son Obsidian for the DC canon. Robinson made the suggestion about Alan Scott to DC co-publisher Dan DiDio, and “there wasn’t a moment’s hesitation,” the writer says.
“What I really want to do with this character is make the fact that he’s gay to be a part of who he is and not to be the one identifying aspect of him,” Robinson says. “And have his humor and his bravery be as much or more a part of him as his sexuality.”
Slight problem; his son Obsidian was already gay. But that character got wiped out in the reboot. So DC’s net gain on LGBT characters was zero. Yeah, way to be progressive there DC. Seriously, DC’s got some good stuff coming out right now (Jeff Lemire’s run on Animal Man and Geoff Johns’ Aquaman are excellent and I highly recommend them), but when I think of DC right now, I’m reminded of one of my favorite lines of dialogue from The West Wing, when Pres. Bartlet says to Toby, “Why is it for every good thing we do around here we have to endure 3 screw-ups?”
SO it’s out now, The Green Lantern goes Pink. Or Rainbow, or Chartreuse(thank you spell check) maybe? Will his ring power be Jazz Hands?

Or he’s still the Green Lantern and your comments are just silky stereotyping nonsense. I’m gonna tell you right now, I have many LGBT friends, and none of them care for pink. Hell, i have more pink stuff than they do.
That’s my point exactly. Trust me, I’m a Male Nurse. I know a whole lot about stereotypes.
