The Hugo nominated comedy Community got a reprieve last week when NBC renewed it for a fourth season.
But then the network exiled the series to Friday evenings and now they’ve removed the creator of the show. According to the Hollywood Reporter, series creator Dan Harmon will no longer serve as show runner for the critically lauded but ratings-deprived series.
NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblat says that he expects Harmon will still be involved with the show in come capacity, though Harmon apparently disagrees.
“A few hours ago, I landed in Los Angeles, turned on my phone, and confirmed what you already know. Sony Pictures Television is replacing me as show runner on Community,” Harmon tells E! Online. “Why’d Sony want me gone? I can’t answer that because I’ve been in as much contact with them as you have. They literally haven’t called me since the season four pickup, so their reasons for replacing me are clearly none of my business.”

After Friday’s confirmation that Harmon had been replaced by writers David Guarascio and Moses Port, the show’s creator wrote a lengthy statement Saturday saying that no one from the show’s producer, Sony Pictures Television, or NBC had contacted him about what he said amounts to his firing from the series.
