Actress Christina Ricci will join the cast of the upcoming Smurfs sequel. Ricci will reportedly lend her voice to Vexi, an evil version of Smurfette.
She will join returning actors Neil Patrick Harris and Hank Azaria as well as voice actors Alan Cumming, Katy Perry, Paul Reubens and Anton Yelchin.
The original Smurfs was a surprise hit in 2011, earning $564 million worldwide.
Director Raja Gosnell will return for the sequel, which has a release date of July 31, 2013.
