Disney Plans “Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride” Movie

Disney Plans “Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride” Movie

April 18, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 7 Comments

While the attraction Mr Toad’s Wild Ride has been replaced at DisneyLand and DisneyWorld, that isn’t stopping the House of Mouse from pursuing a big-screen version of it.

According to Deadline, Disney has tapped director Pete Candeland to develop a live action/CGI film based on the popular ride.

Based on the Wind in the Willows, the ride was a staple at Disney theme parks from 1955 to 1998, when it was replaced by a ride based on Winnie the Pooh.

Tron: Legacy producer Justin Springer will produce Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and the studio is looking for a writer to draft the plot into a film.

No word yet on if the movie is a hit whether or not Disney might bring the ride back to its theme parks.

Wait, what, why? MR Toad’s was part of the wind in the willows already, so why, oh right no original ideas out of disney, that’s it.

Didn’t they already do this movie, and didn’t the movie have only good scene in the whole damn thing (the song Secret to Survival)?

Actually, the ride still is at Disneyland. It was replaced in DisneyWorld a few years ago by “Winnie the Pooh” much to the dismay of loyal fans.

I’m pretty sure it is still open at Disneyland…

Didn’t Disney announce a Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride movie like ten years ago or longer. I’m pretty sure this is a really old idea Disney has had in development hell for a while.

I’ll echo what some other people are saying… Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is very much alive and well at Disneyland. It’s still one of the most popular rides in Fantasyland given the long lines it always has.

I rode this ride last week at DL. Still there. DL put the Winnie ride in Critter Country. However, they did rename the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse the Tarzan treehouse, which is silly since Tarzan was terrible, and they are making a new SFR movie now.
